Large Betty Joel Chest of 10 Drawers
The chest: An English Art Deco / Modernist chest of 10 drawers of unusually large proportions. Designed by Betty Joel and hand made at the Token works in 1938 (labelled). Constructed in well figured West African cherry mahogany. The chest has an asymmetric arrangement of drawers all sat upon a laurel wood plinth.

Condition: Offered in excellent refinished condition.

Arts & Crafts Liberty & Co Linen Press / Chest
The chest: An Arts & Crafts large oak freestanding linen press / chest by Edwin T. Hall and Edwin S. Hall for Liberty & Co c.1924. Rectangular top with moulded angles over two substantial drawers (on brass runners), each with distinctive wrought iron drop handles. Panelled sides and rear, all raised on block feet.

Condition: Offered in excellent (refinished) condition.

Dimensions: 106cm wide, 86cm high and 76cm deep.

Provinance: Made circa 1924 for Liberty & Co's magnificent Tudor building on Great Marlborough Street. Designed by Edwin Thomas Hall and his son Edwin Stanley Hall and constructed from the timbers of two men-of-war battleships: HMS Impregnable and HMS Hindustan. The chest is part of a range of furniture made for the rooms and galleries to display the textiles, clothes and luxury goods the shop was so famous for. All were made in the sixteenth century style, with pegged construction and decorative details complementing the design details of the building. All the furniture was made in the firm's workshops in Highgate and demonstrate the same high levels of craftsmanship and attention to detail as the building itself.

The chest: A chest of three over two drawers constructed in well figured walnut by Betty Joel Furniture, Token works, signed & dated 1929. Dowelled construction with stepped handles.

Condition: Offered in excellent refinished condition. To be supplied with a plate glass inset top.

Dimensions: The chest stands 31.5" tall, 43" wide and 20.5" deep.

The chest: A rare example of the larger Arts & Crafts oak "St Ives" chest of 2 over 3 drawers designed by Ambrose Heal for Heal & Son c.1898. Constructed in well figured quarter sawn oak. This chest has its original patinated metalware.

Art Deco Oak Tallboy Cabinet Over Chest by Bath Cabinet Makers
The tallboy: An Art Deco oak tallboy cabinet over 3 drawer chest by Bath Cabinet Makers c.1925. Constructed in well figured quarter sawn oak with a decorative edge moulding and Bakelite handles.

Condition: Shown prior to being refinished, this tallboy is to be offered in very good refinished condition. There is a small chip to the corner of one of the Bakelite handles (right hand side of the lower drawer).

Art Deco Limed Oak Toy Trunk / Blanket Box
The trunk: An unusual Art Deco limed oak toy trunk / blanket box attributed to Heal's c.1930. Constructed in solid, mostly quarter sawn, oak. The interior has had a later, crudely constructed, removable tray tray fitted - which can easily be removed (along with its brackets) if preferred.

Condition: Offered in very good refinished condition. The liming is very subtle and mostly lost to the top.

Arts & Crafts Liberty & Co Oak Chest of Drawers
An Arts & Crafts oak chest of drawers by Edwin T. Hall and Edwin S. Hall for Liberty & Co c.1924. Later white marble top over two over two drawersl drawers, each with distinctive wrought iron drop handles. Panelled sides and exposed pegged construction. The two lower drawers have extending drawer runners which allow the drawers to be fully opened without droping.

Condition: Offered in excellent (refinished) condition.

Dimensions: 51" wide, 32" high and 21" deep.

Provinance: Made circa 1924 for Liberty & Co's magnificent Tudor building on Great Marlborough Street. The Chest: An early Ambrose Heal designed Arts & Crafts oak chest of 3 drawers, c.1898, with exposed dovetails. Impressed "Heal & Son" mark to the top drawer. This chest is constructed in well figured quarter sawn oak.

Condition: Offered in very good original condition - top surface has been refinished with the remainder cleaned and revived.

Arts & Crafts Cotswold School Chest of Drawers
The chest: An Arts & Crafts solid oak Cotswold School chest of four drawers. Designed by Peter Waals and made by final year handicraft students under the direction of Edward Barnsley in the 1930s for Hazlerigg Hall (now part of Loughborough University). The chest has pommel horse handles and is beautifully constructed with exposed dovetails and through tenons.

Condition: Offered in very good refinished condition. All drawers run remarkably smoothly.
