Art Deco Limed Oak Toy Trunk / Blanket Box |
The trunk: An unusual Art Deco limed oak toy trunk / blanket box attributed to Heal's c.1930. Constructed in solid, mostly quarter sawn, oak. The interior has had a later, crudely constructed, removable tray tray fitted - which can easily be removed (along with its brackets) if preferred.
Condition: Offered in very good refinished condition. The liming is very subtle and mostly lost to the top.

Arts & Crafts "Lizardman" Refectory Dining Table & Pair of Benches |
The table & benches: An Arts & Crafts refectory dining table with a pair of benches all made in English oak by Martin "Lizardman" Dutton circa 1950. One bench is signed with a discretely carved lizard to the end support.
Provenance: this table and benches were originally made for the old Grammar School known as The Friary, Richmond, North Yorkshire. In more recent times they were used in the Lower Dining Hall and Lower Library of the Richmond School, North Yorkshire.
Martin "Lizardman" Dutton (1921-2009) of Huby, near York, was a Robert Thompson apprentice and craftsman during the 1940's. He signed his furniture by carving a lizard.
Condition: Offered in very good firm and solid condition. having been structurally restored. This set is now ready for re-finishing. We can offer to refinish the set to your requirements - please contact us to discuss options and pricing.
